Hey I know you! You were on our hike this weekend! Okay okay we get it we do such a good job! We bring you the gear, we supply the transport, sometimes even a snack. We are the perfect package. Well…….. Maybe…..  We don't quite scratch your itch on the amount of hikes we do.

Trust me we get it, once you start it's hard to stop. And that's okay ! I would spend every weekend on the trail if I could. So I think it’s time we share some of our secrets, how we find the best hikes especially in winter. I mean we don't want to hold anyone back from their sense of adventure..

First things first look at your favourite summer destinations. Most of the stunning hikes that you do all summer long are also available in the winter. For some reason this is something I always forget. That stunning trail that leads to a waterfall or the one that leads to the crystal blue lake. Just imagine what they would look like if it was frozen over and with a soft little snowfall magnifying the view. Winter also comes with its own challenges and struggles so even if you are worried you have already seen the view, it will feel completely different

Another great place to find breathtaking winter hikes is social media. Tik tok, instagram - they all have countless resources for hikes. With a little searching and watching your algorithm can be filled with stunning hikes from all over the place. A few of my favourites are oli.langevin , desousa.cindy  and hermeswings . They find cool hikes for any season of the year. So your next doom-scroll, try looking for some hikes, I mean it’s productive right?

Now if scrolling through hours of reels isn't your thing Balise Quebec is your one stop shop for any hiking adventure you are in the mood for. Do you wanna hike with your dog? Want something multi-day? How about an easy hike? Something in the Outaouais region? They got it with lists and a map showing the locations and details of hundreds of hikes. Not only can they help you find your hikes but they provide you with all the information you might need for the day, is it paid, the distance, are there bathrooms. The answer to all of it is there.

Now I will be real, sometimes taking the time to find the perfect hike is long and hard. That’s where we come in! If you are here then you probably already know what we do. But we run cool hikes filled with cool people all year long, so  come on our hikes! Not only will you learn about new places to try, you get to meet people to go on possible adventures with. We are constantly trying new destinations and cool areas. We are also always open to suggestions if you find one that really excites you. ( Of course we had to insert a shameless self promo!)

The last piece of advice for finding good winter hikes is don't overthink it. Look around your area and go for a walk in a park nearby. Sometimes the coolest adventures are close to home. A hike doesn't need to be 3 hours away, we are all students and we know that it can be hard to find time or organize things like that. Just getting out and about in your neighbourhood can be breathtaking some days. I mean beaver lake on a snowy day, or ile de boucherville with some snowshoes or the nature center in laval, are all homes to some amazing winter adventures. Don't overthink your hikes there may be something close to home.

Hiking in the winter can feel like a lost cause, as there is a lot to think about in terms of safety. It’s important to go prepared and have the proper gear needed. You want to dress warm, check the trail conditions and make sure they aren't too far out of your physical means, as snow and ice can make things more challenging. But please don't let all that scare you, winter hikes can be some of the most breathtaking and rewarding experiences, so hopefully see you on the trails.
